Town of St. Albans (Inc. June 14, 1813) Nestled in a lovely valley In the very heart of Maine, Is a town that I love dearly, Tho' it has no call to fame There's a lake within this valley, Islands where wild life abide. Loons and wild duck roam the water Where brown trout love to hide. Looking down upon this valley From the pinnacles above, Isee homes, farms and a steeple Symbol of a Christian's love. Sometimes in the evening When I know the bright moon fills, I love to watch as it comes up Behind the Dixmont hills Soon Moonbeams

play upon the water, What a lovely display! They make a golden moon path, I see above the milky way. Breathing deep I smell the sweet grass, Feel the breeze like a velvet'till Time to take myself to slumber, Then I hear a Whip-o-will! Rising early in the morning, While others are asleep, With a nice hot cup of coffee To the window I would creep, Just to watch the sunrise As it peers on Big Indian Lake, Saying to all God's Creatures "Come, Time you were Awake!!" written by Lydia Emery St. Albans Resident 08/03/1918 to 12/25/2005
